Body Image and Eating
So many people we know struggle with their relationship with food and their body. It’s hard to imagine that after years of dieting, and binge eating, of over exercising and restriction, of being critical and even hating our bodies that it is possible to live in peace with food and our tummies or thighs. But it is possible.
I work with individuals with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and subclinical or “weight cycling” disordered eating. When indicated, I include physicians and registered dietitians who specialize in eating disorders so we can take a holistic approach to this complex problem. When working with clients, I utilize an intuitive eating-centered path to create a sense of safety and trust with one’s own body and eating. I am a Health at Every Sized informed therapist.
What happens when we make peace with food, we begin to have compassion for our bodies and we create a desire to meet our needs and find acceptance. Food doesn’t have to be a fight. Looking at ourselves in the mirror with acceptance and without judgement is possible!
